Job Description


Boys & Girls Clubs of Central NH is searching for a Jr. Staff Accountant to participate in a fast-paced, volume-based environment and work as part of a (2) person accounting team reporting to the Finance Director. This is a full-time non-exempt position. The successful candidate will enjoy working in a small team within a dynamic organization, enjoys resolving challenges, data input, and wearing many hats. As this position involves extensive interpersonal contact within and outside the organization it requires a strong attitude of professionalism and team building.


�Perform new vendor setup in our accounting system (Abila MIP). Ensure vendor W-9 taxpayer ID numbers for setup as a 1099 vendor in the accounting system. Prepare annual 1099 filing.

�Maintain proper documentation for vendor files, grant expenses, and general ledger transactions.

�Accounts Payable functions including entering vendor invoices into the accounting system, running checks for signatures, and sending out signed A/P checks to vendors. Maintain electronic files including vendor quotes, bids proposals, and contracts as needed.

�Maintaining grant records/documentation in compliance with federal regulations.

�Prepare accounting system journal entries for assigned segments, and as directed.

�Process cash/check receipts, prepare bank deposits, and create cash receipt postings.

�Participate in the monthly financial close and adhere to the monthly close schedule.

�Maintain, prepare, or develop Excel spreadsheets for assigned monthly account reconciliations.

�Assist in the preparation of required audit schedules and reports. Participate in year-end audit as needed.

�Provide backup for other accounting staff.

�Perform other accounting tasks as assigned.


�A two-year degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience is required.

� Excellent computer skills, including advanced Excel skills (vlookups, pivot tables & formulas) and experience with automated accounting systems, especially Abila MIP fund accounting.

� 3-4 years experience in a high-volume accounting office with general ledger responsibility.

� Experience in closing accounting periods and generating financial statements

� Knowledge of mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions and their applications to practical situations is required.

� Must be extremely organized, deadline-oriented, have high attention to detail, and highly focused while maintaining objectivity.

�Must be able to maintain confidentiality while working with the public and staff.

�Demonstrated ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects and details simultaneously is required.

�The ability to work independently with good communication skills.

�Strong sense of professionalism as well as the willingness to work as necessary.

�Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills are critical due to frequent daily interactions with others.

�Must be able to employ tact, and diplomacy courteously and professionally when dealing with others. Must have excellent interpersonal and follow-through skills.

�Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures or governmental regulations.

�Desire to work in a team environment in an open workspace.

�Must be dependable.

This is a full-time, hourly position. We are temporarily offering a sign-on bonus of $500.00.
