The Senior Accountant – Fixed Assets has responsibility for the Oracle Project Accounting and Fixed Asset Modules; duties include the month end close for the Project Accounting and Fixed Asset Modules, monthly reporting, asset capitalization, disposals, and transfers. Additional accounting duties include preparation of journal entries, balance sheets reconciliations and adherence to SOX controls. The successful candidate will be analytical, technically proficient, have good attention to detail with a proven capability to communicate and collaborate with diverse business functions.


  • Manage the month end close process for the Oracle Project Accounting and Oracle Fixed Asset Modules, in partnership with Americas site controllers.
  • Process journal entries including preparation, recording and collection of supporting documentation in compliance with Gates Mandate for Fundamental Financial Controls and existing SOX matrixes.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts, maintains supporting documentation in compliance with Gates controls and resolve reconciling items within a reasonable timeframe.
  • Ensure all construction in progress balances are capitalized in a timely manner, given the correct life, and are properly supported.
  • Ensure all asset transfers are properly valued and supported.
  • Preparation of quarterly and annual government reporting, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely submission.
  • Support Corporate Tax Department fixed assets requests related to filing of tax returns.
  • Act as a key subject matter expert related to fixed assets and project accounting for site controllers and other finance and accounting team members.
  • Support internal and external audits by facilitating the provision of data to auditors and responding to inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Partner with corporate accounting on the management and execution of balance sheet reviews for Fixed Asset and Construction in Progress accounts.
  • Continuously assess risk areas and identify improvements, best practice changes and process improvements to enhance reliability, efficiency, and timeliness.
  • Serve as corporate and site resource in preparing Investment Project Proposals (IPPs).
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities for processes and procedures within the Corporate Center Finance Group (content, accuracy, timeliness, formats, controls, automation, etc.).
  • May be assigned tasks and participate in special projects as required, including acting as key functional fixed asset leader on ERP upgrade projects.

  • Functions as an individual contributor with no supervisory responsibilities.


  • Degree in Accounting or Finance; must have at least 5 years of specific experience in related accounting roles.
  • Good writing skills and the ability to convey a message that is understandable and relevant, linking business issues and financial results.
  • Good problem solving and analytical skills. Ability to analyze information and make sound business decisions.
  • Unquestionable integrity and discretion.
  • Good accounting knowledge with experience in general accounting.
  • Strong Excel skills a must.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong team player that proactively is able to step in to support other team members as needed and share knowledge to allow cross training of all functions, builds collaborative relationships.
  • Works well under pressure and demonstrates flexibility in work style to accommodate changing priorities and fixed deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with other accountants, functional specialists outside of Corporate Center Finance and business leaders. Demonstrated ability to interpret data and provide meaningful information and insight to both a financial and nonfinancial audience.
  • Self-motivated, capable of seeking quality solutions and continuously focusing on process improvements, while keeping the needs of the business in the forefront.
  • Experience with SOX controls and related auditing processes and is committed to the importance of accounting standards and controls.
  • Experience in a large, publicly owned corporation a plus.
  • Experience with Oracle Financial, Fixed Asset and Project Accounting modules, Hyperion and General Ledger systems a plus.

  • Full-Time
  • Salary: $80,000 - $98,000
  • Medical, Dental, Vision insurance and other voluntary benefit options: benefits begin on the first day of the month immediately following your date of hire
  • Eligible for 3 weeks of paid vacation + 11 holidays (9 scheduled & 2 floating) + 8 sick days. All vacation days are accrued
